Kentucky Sepsis Consortium Webinar
Our October Sepsis Consortium webinar included a presentation by Dr. Alan Junkins, Chief of Microbiology, Norton Healthcare and Levi Petrey, Microbiology Supervisor, Baptist Hospital Corbin. Our two laboratory experts spoke on the topic of blood culture contamination, including how to differentiate between clinical and surveillance definitions. They explained why and when we need and use both. Also discussed was how to improve the quality of specimens and why that is important to sepsis diagnosis.
