KHA Quality Webinar: Beyond Sliding Scale: Modern Glycemic Management in the Hospital Setting

The KHA Quality team was pleased to welcome guest speaker Dr. Casey Metts, PharmD, who shared his expertise on glycemic management in a small community hospital setting. Dr. Metts provided a brief overview of current guideline recommendations for inpatient diabetes management, highlighted upcoming CMS metrics related to hypo- and hyperglycemia, and discussed the process of implementing an insulin-dosing software in a small community hospital.

Casey J. Metts, PharmD serves as the Pharmacy Clinical Manager at Baptist Health Richmond and oversees clinical pharmacy practice at a small community hospital. Dr. Metts specializes in antimicrobial stewardship and clinical pharmacy leadership, serving as the site leader for Baptist Health Richmond’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and co-chair of the Glycemic Management Committee. An active educator and mentor, Dr. Metts leads multidisciplinary initiatives that improve patient care and medication safety. His leadership continues to advance evidence-based pharmacy practice within his community and across the Baptist Health System.
